Capturing Great Photos of Your Dog

Capturing great photos of your dog can be challenging, but when you get “that” photo – it is a priceless possession.
Here are a few tips to help capture your next great photo:

  • Patience is key! lots and lots of patience.
  • Taking multiple images…if your pup is anything like mine, they hold still for 2 seconds. When you take your photos – take multiples. The likelihood that you get a good one is in focus, in the position that you want is higher the more photos you take. You can delete the duplicates later.
  • Consider your background. Make sure the area is free of clutter, dog toy stuffing etc. Noting worse that getting that great photo only to notice something disruptive in the background that could have been removed. Remember if there is, photoshop can often times remove it!
  • Lighting – make sure you have plenty of light and be aware of your shadows.
  • Use props – consider Including your dogs favorite toy, blanket, etc.  These can help bring out their personality.
  • Treats – Having a dog treat in one can, while you snap photos with the other will help hold your dogs attention, so he/she looks at you.
